FRUIT 'N' VEG PARADE IN ADELAIDE    

The meeting between Adelaide City Council and Kas Ward has been held on Wednesday, 25 June 2008 to discuss the Fruit and Veggie Parade to be held in Adelaide. Kas Ward has submitted both a proposal for the parade and request to the Adelaide City Council asking for their support and advice.

The following subjects have been discussed during the meeting:

* Date: Saturday, 18th April 2009
* Time: 12noon (start from Victoria Sq) - 3pm
* Route: Victoria Square - Gouger Street - Grote Street - Victoria Square

Aims: To,
* encourage community to introduce more fruits and vegetables into their diets;
* address health and well-being issues for all people in the City;
* invite Government of South Australia, Health Department as the main event partner;
* attract more people to the City and shape Adelaide's identity;
* promote and encourage participation, pride and a sense of place for residents, students, workers and visitors;
* have direct input into building Adelaide's future;
* create a program that reflects Adelaide that values creativity, compassion, innovation, access and participation;
* promote the City of Adelaide locally, nationally and internationally.

Features of the Parade:
* Costume Parade of Joy - participants will be encouraged to wear fruit/veggie costumes
* march filled with positive energy, music, costumes, laughs, entertaining activities and lots of fun...
* pet friendly event
* registration of the attendees (organisations prior to the event, patrons - on the day)

Activities:
* competition for the best fruit and veggie costume - registration essential in order to take a photo
* wedding of the Bride Fruit and Groom Veggie
* live entertainment on the main stage at Victoria Square
* information and food stalls at Victoria Square


VOLUNTEERS will be needed:
* registration desks
* making costumes
* wearing costumes
* stage assistance
* fliers distribution
* set-up/clean-up assistance
* signage production and carrying
* stall assistance (raffle sale + merchandise sale)
