Who is joining us?

Vegan Festival ! The Original & The Best!

Established in 2007, the Vegan Festival Adelaide has evolved into a renowned event not only in Adelaide but also on the global stage, standing at the forefront of the international vegan scene.

Over the years, it has garnered widespread recognition for its commitment to promoting plant-based living, attracting participants and enthusiasts from diverse corners of the world. The festival's impact extends beyond geographical boundaries, making it a key player in shaping the narrative of the global vegan movement.

Bringing you the perfect vegan bubble, our team joined the Vegan Festival in 2015 and have stayed on helping create Australia's most awarded Vegan events.

Our name, Vegan Festival, has become celebrated amongst vegans over almost 2 decades and we bring a range of offshoot events to you such as Vegan Picnic, our winter food event Vegan Palooza, the inspirational Vegan Film Festival and the hugely popular Vegustation series.

Supporting vegan businesses, educating the public, entertaining the crowds...

It was, and always will be, for the animals!

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Kaurna people, the traditional custodians whose ancestral lands we gather on. We acknowledge the deep feelings of attachment and relationship of the Kaurna people to country and we respect and value their past, present and ongoing connection to the land and cultural beliefs.

Festival Patron: Jason ‘Dizzy’ Gillespie

The incredible Jason Gillespie is the face of our vegan festival in Adelaide! This cricket legend and devoted vegan isn't just a patron; he's our enthusiastic advocate, championing the cause with his name, support, and passion. From gracing our events to proudly endorsing the festival, Gillespie brings star power and genuine commitment, elevating awareness and support for a cause that connects athleticism, environmental care, and compassion for animals. It's not just an endorsement; it's a dynamic celebration of values and advocacy! 🌱🏏

Jason ‘Dizzy’ Gillespie is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who played all three formats of the game. A right-arm fast bowler, he was also a dependable lower-order batsman who’s unbeaten 201 is the highest score by a night-watchman in international cricket.

Gillespie made his international debut in 1996, and quickly established himself as one of the most feared bowlers in the world. He was a key member of the Australian team that dominated world cricket in the late 1990s and early 2000s, winning three consecutive Ashes series and two World Cups.

Gillespie was known for his raw pace, accuracy, and bounce. He was also a very intelligent bowler, able to adapt his style to different conditions and opponents. Gillespie played 71 Test matches and 97 One Day Internationals for Australia, taking 259 Test wickets and 142 ODI wickets.

Gillespie retired from international cricket in 2006, but he has continued to be involved in the game as a Head Coach. He has led South Australia, Yorkshire, Sussex, the Adelaide Strikers and more, achieving success wherever he travels.

A worthy inductee into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, Gillespie was a brilliant cricketer and is a wonderful role model and ambassador for the game.

Environmental Sustainability Update

The waste management reports are back from the 2022 Festival and we have continued our run! 0% of waste went to landfill! Read the full report below but we want to say a huge thank you to all of you who came along, helped us reduce waste and care for our planet - both guests and stall holders

In 2018, the UN warned the world that we have 12 years to limit climate change or face catastrophe. In the same year, we were told how, as individuals, we can help: “Avoiding meat and dairy is ‘single biggest way’ to reduce your impact on Earth”. A plant based diet is better for our Air, Land, and Water. Find our more: Click here.

Testimonials

“Vegan Festival Adelaide is a treat to both attend and perform at. Each one is full of the very best of a festive atmosphere - food, entertainment, new ideas, discovering local businesses and loads of community spirit showcasing the best of veganism. For just two magical, and very well organised days each year, this celebration is the one I always look forward to as I know I’ll be gorging on the best food of my life, downing a cocktail while listening to rad local music whilst surrounded by thousands of new best friends. Plus they’ve got great taste in which vegan recipe developers they let up on stage sometimes.” - Zacchary Bird

Adelaide Vegan Festival is a consistently well organised event that creates a welcoming and inclusive space for all, and helps people make lifestyle changes which are essential to the survival of this planet. Not to mention encouraging people to think about others as well as themselves.
The atmosphere created at these events is second to none
” - Paul Arguile, Booknook & Bean

The Adelaide Vegan Festival is the highlight of our year! It is the stand out event for us as a business that we can showcase what we do and have the best time doing it. The crowds are amazing, the food extraordinary, the organisation of this festival is absolutely next level. I operate markets all year round, dealing with countless event coordinators but Lea for Vegan Festival Adelaide is the most well oiled machine I have to do with. She is thorough, organised, accommodating, precise, supportive, creative and passionate about what she does.” - Fiona, OMG Decadent Donuts

Every year I look forward to the Adelaide Vegan Festival. It brings together such a diverse group of people who have one common goal, to make the world a better place. Whether we are vegan for the animals, the planet or our health, the Vegan Festival is a place where we can feel like we are making a difference. Being involved in the Vegan Festival for a number of years, I've demonstrated to audiences how easy it is to cook with whole plant ingredients. I'm always humbled by how many people were inspired to change the way they ate just because they saw a cooking demonstration or listened to a speech on the main stage. The Vegan Festival has always been run with integrity, professionalism and style and the organisers make those involved feel like they are part of one big family. I look forward to many more years of supporting the Vegan Festival in Adelaide and being involved in such an important movement and of course indulging in the delicious vegan food on offer!” - Rebecca Stonor, Doctors for Nutrition, Just Eat Plants and Plant Scientist

“The Vegan Festival Adelaide has been a special time and place for me now for 5 years running. I started volunteering in 2017 after being vegan for a year or two and could never, at the time, imagine how much of an important part of my life the event would end up becoming. The last weekend in October has now become the time of year I look forward to most, and the VF crew have become my second family. The Festival is affectionately called Vegan Christmas by staff and volunteers, such is the love for the event and the gluttonous Vegan Vibes it brings; we get to see all our v-friends and v-family and eat far too much. Like all volunteers, I am extremely proud of the Festival. We all feel an immense sense of honour and enjoyment in playing our parts in putting together this world-class event every year and seeing the happy faces of those that soak it all up. Over the years, I have gradually adopted more responsibilities and have gladly poured my heart and soul into all of it. The more passion and effort I put into the Vegan Festival, the more reward I take from it. Lea McBride and her team have not just given me something special, but the wider Adelaide Vegan Community also. We are so lucky to have her and the Vegan Festival Adelaide.” - Ryan Hollingworth, Long-Term Volunteer
